This website is the achievement of a maths teacher from Brittany, who has posted a host of interactive maths exercises on the internet for pupils aged 12-13 in French collèges. The exercises are marked online and vary from the very basic to quite complicated. Likewise, some of the instructions will easily be understood but others might need guidance - it might be worthwhile to teach pupils some basic French mathematical vocabulary before starting, such as "additionner", "soustraire", "multiplier" and so on.

Our activity gets students to pair up and attempt some of the exercises together - you can either give them free licence to roam or direct them all to the same exercise, in which case you could set a competition to see who can get most questions correct. The website also gives the opportunity to download all the activities in a compressed ZIP file, which limits the amount of time spent online (if your computer can not receive ZIP files, click here to download WinZip or here to download PowerArchiver before you download the files in ZIP format). Once downloaded, you can open the files through your browser offline.

The Pic-Vert webzine is another personal creation, this time containing a ever-growing collection of nature articles covering animals, geography and biology more or less all in one. The articles might be slightly difficult to understand although they aren't written in very complicated French and are illustrated with lots of photographs too. The homepage gives the different sections of the site: animaux, insolite, kesako, plantes, terre, voyage, liens and courrier. These are also accessible from the navigation bar down the side of the page, although here there are only symbols to represent each part of the site (listed in the same order as above, with the flapping bird linking back to the homepage). The site is updated every month or two, but all former articles stay posted on the site - see the lists on the homepage underneath the information on the latest issue. Pic-Vert has numerous pieces of animated graphics scattered across the site that liven up the articles - these should work on any computer though and do not need any extra software to be downloaded.
