The two websites featured for Unit 9 are broadly similar - both of them provide the same service, comparing prices of a range of products so that the user can find the best deal available. Toobo offers a slightly wider range of products such as flowers and food, and also features online auctions whereas Kelkoo tends to restrict itself to electronic items, music and books. However, it might be a good idea to use one of these sites rather than both of them with your class owing to their similarity.

The fusée en ligne activities for the two sites first give pupils some sense of bearings round the site by helping them work out the different departments and what they offer. Then they are set various shopping tasks, to find certain products, or presents for certain people. Be aware that when Toobo or Kelkoo find the best deal on an item, the next step is for the user to be taken to the website offering this deal, so you might want to stop your pupils from actually going this far - or, indeed, actually buying anything.

To link using these sites more into what has been learnt in Unit 9, you might want to get pupils to discuss which kind of shopping they prefer - normal or online - for which they can use some of the vocabulary from page 146 (and elsewhere in the unit). Another potentially interesting feature for pupils is the guided tour of Toobo, which has an animated cartoon pig pointing out the various parts of the site. To see this, click on the "Visitez le site avec flash" link under the "Besoin d'aide?" heading in the left-hand menu. However, you'll need Macromedia Flash installed on your computer to see this - to download this for free, click here.
